Notable Cases

The Office of the Orange County District Attorney is committed to the prosecution of hate crimes that strike to the core of our society.  Below are several examples of hate crimes successfully prosecuted by the Orange County District Attorney.

 

·        A 42-year-old male brandished a metal pipe, uttered racial epithets, and assaulted two Hispanic victims as they were exiting a restaurant.

 

·        A 31-year-old male crashed his car into the garage of his Jewish ex-employer and made anti-Semitic statements.

 

·        A 42-year-old male got into a road rage incident with a Hispanic male and threatened him with a crowbar while using racial epithets.

 

·        An 18 and a 20-year-old male attacked two men because they believed the men were gay.
