Victim’s Rights in Absence of Criminal Charges

A. Penal Code § 679.02(a)(8): Right to notification of civil remedies and restitution fund.

B. Penal Code § 1001.64: Right to restitution from bad check diversion participant.

C. Penal Code § 14150: Legislative Intent of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

D. Penal Code § 14153: Right to consent to ADR.

E. Penal Code § 13962: Provides for the duty of every local law enforcement agency to inform crime victims of the existence of victim centers.

F. Tarasoff Policy: Public official’s possible duty to inform a victim about threats of death or bodily injury by a criminal defendant.
