  • The OCBA’s Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS) is the only non-profit legal referral service in Orange County sponsored by the OCBA.  It has been making referrals for over 46 years.
  • LRIS panel attorneys have expertise in 35 areas of the law.  Each call is carefully screened by trained representatives to assure referral to the right attorney.  Prospective clients receive a free brief consultation to review the legal issue and discuss fees.
  • LRIS provides bilingual services, meets American Bar Association standards set forth for referral services, and is certified by the State Bar of California. (Certification #0033)

 

An administrative fee of $25 is charged for your first referral in one area of law.  You will not receive all referrals at one time.  The administrative fee collected helps defray operating costs of this non-profit service.  This fee is waived for Criminal Law, Family Law, Medical Malpractice issues, Personal Injury, Social Security and Workers’ Compensation.  A Modest Means program is also available.

  • The Public Law Center, Orange County’s pro bono law firm, is committed to providing access to justice for low income residents.  Through volunteers and staff, the Public Law Center provides free civil legal services, including counseling, individual representation, community education, and strategic litigation and advocacy to challenge societal injustices. Now in its 26th year, PLC is sponsored by the Orange County Bar Association and supported by lawyers throughout the county.

    • The Legal Aid Society of Orange County and Community Legal Services in Los Angeles County (collectively “Legal Aid”) are non-profit agencies that provide free legal services to Orange County and portions of southeast/south central Los Angeles County’s poor and elderly.  They are funded by a combination of public and private sources.

    • CSP was established in 1972 as a field study project for students at the University of California Irvine, providing diversion counseling for delinquent youth and their families at the Costa Mesa Police Department.  Since that time CSP has grown dramatically in size and scope and has designed and implemented some of the most respected prevention and intervention programs in Southern California.  CSP, which now celebrates over 30 years of providing services in Orange County, is comprised of six model programs assisting over 80,000 persons a year—abused children, victims of crime, struggling families, acting out adolescents, and people in need of mediation services.

    • The WTLC is a private, non-profit domestic violence shelter dedicated to providing a safe haven for victims of domestic violence and to their children.  WTLC provides shelter in a multicultural environment that is safe, caring, supportive, confidential and nonjudgmental.

    • Corbin Family Resource Center offers an array of community and human services, programs and activities, on site and in the home, for all ages from infants to seniors.  Most services are offered free of charge or for a small fee and counseling (individual, group family), domestic violence intervention and legal assistance.

    • The Westminster Family Resource Center (WFRC) Collaborative, formed in 2000, serves all families residing in the City of Westminster and surrounding communities.  This includes intact families with children birth through 18, single parents, blended families, foster and adoptive families, relative caregivers and anyone who is in need.  The WFRC has become the centralized information and referral point for the community.  Families can easily access services outside those offered by our partners and with the assistance of the staff make necessary linkages with other community based agencies.
    • All services provided are offered in English, Spanish and Vietnamese at no cost and have no eligibility requirements.
    • Some services offered include: After-School Recreation and Enrichment Programs, Information and Referral Services, Citizenship Services, Gang Prevention and Intervention Programs, Counseling Services, Domestic Violence Education and Intervention, Refugee Services, and Emergency Assistance.

    • Human Options provides comprehensive services helping to break the cycle of domestic violence at each stage.  Services include: emergency shelter, a safe caring residential accommodation for 45 days for battered women and children and provides housing, counseling, social and healing services.

    • Interval House is one of the largest, most diverse agencies on the West Coast dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence.  Interval House is the only agency in the country offering services in 40 different languages.  It was the first agency with a Latino-specific program for domestic violence and now offers comprehensive programs and services for Asian women, with 26 different Asian languages spoken by staff and volunteer advocates.
