The Special Prosecutions Unit has recently prosecuted several persons for voter fraud when it was determined they intentionally voted more than once in an election. The Orange County District Attorneys Office received information from two sources, the Registrar of Voters and the Office of the California Secretary of State, indicating that people had voted more than once in the same election. The District Attorney, in conjunction with the Secretary of State, investigated the allegations. The cases resulted in convictions with penalties of probation, community service, and fines.
